About ASEAN Coffee Institute

ASEAN Coffee Institute (ACI) is the official coffee training and education body formed by the ASEAN Coffee Federation (ACF). Established in 2021 with its headquarters in Singapore, the institute's objectives are to: establish coffee quality and standards for the ASEAN region reaching out to the world, provide affordable coffee education to all, promote sustainability practices to the coffee farmer, as well as to encourage sustainable sourcing by traders, roasters and cafe owners.

Mr. Victor Mah
President

Mr Mah has over 40 years of experience in the coffee industry and is a well-known personality in the coffee space in the Asia Pacific region, particularly for his expertise in cup quality. Mr Mah serves as the President of Singapore Coffee Association as well as the President of the ASEAN Coffee Federation which Singapore is one of the member countries.

Mr. Justin Metcalf
Chief Education Officer

Justin Metcalf World Barista Judge™ is one of Australia’s most recognized Coffee & Café consultants. Being in the forefront of creating the Melbourne speciality coffee scene in the late 90's/early 2000's from the domination of the Italians, Justin has been a part of the 3rd wave change we know today.

Mr. Dave Lim
Technical Director

Dave has served as the Director at Parchmen & Co, Singapore since 2016. He has a Diploma from the Specialty Coffee Association and is a graduate of the Certificate of Advance Studies in Coffee Excellence by Zurich University. Additionally, he was an adjunct lecturer at Singapore Polytechnics teaching Business & Science of Coffee and Business & Science of Tea from 2019 to 2020. He is also a silver medalist (coffee roasting) at the Australia International Coffee Awards 2017. Dave is also the Country Head Trainer (Singapore) for ASEAN Coffee Institute as well as a certified trainer under the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA), Singapore.

Mr. Jeff Miller
Honorary Advisor

Jeff Miller’s career spans over 35 years in hospitality management - 26 years of which has been in the coffee industry serving as a barista, regional director and senior vice-president at Starbucks Coffee. Having lived across Asia since 2000, he has played a variety of roles in the growth and evolution of the coffeehouse experience, coffee education and creating opportunities to connect baristas with those who grow coffee.
